Mattress Donation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Services

Earlier this month Rio Valley Relief Project received a donation of portable mattresses from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Services in response to a request made a few months prior. These mattresses will be given to resettled refugee families in the Austin area. We continue to work in cooperation with Refugee Services of Texas to be as efficient as possible with the storage and proper distribution of these goods. It is our hope that by so doing, we will also alleviate the burden RST carries to ensure all families have basic needs met for as low a cost as possible. We are also open to sharing with members of the community who, because they have established relationships with refugee families, may be aware of needs.

We thank volunteers Melissa, Tyler, Kathryn, Mary and Camilla for their time, vehicles and muscles. Our thanks also go out to the DuHadway family at Fox Robotics for the use of their warehouse and forklifts and to Chuck for facilitating the delivery. This work is very much a team effort and we are grateful for the support we receive.
